Choosing your screen print poster

Which screen print poster should you choose?

  • Handmade screen print poster: layered flat colours, a slight printing offset, deliberate grain.
  • Concert screen print: bold typography, numbered limited edition, gig-venue aesthetic.
  • Laurent Durieux screen print poster: reworked film compositions, saturated colours, narrative nods.
  • Graphic and minimalist screen print: simple geometric shapes, two or three tones, plain background.
  • Vintage screen print poster: old advertisements, period lettering, a slightly faded palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a screen print poster?

  • Living room: a graphic screen print in a large size, alone on an open wall.
  • Office: a concert or film poster, for a work corner with character.
  • Bedroom: a screen print in muted colours, more restful than a bright flat colour.
  • Hallway: a series of small screen-printed formats, aligned at the same height.
  • Kitchen or dining room: a graphic, colourful piece, close to the table.

Framed or unframed screen print poster?

A screen print with bold flat colours is often enough on its own on a pale wall, without a frame so as not to weigh down the motif. A thin frame, black or light wood, sets off denser prints or multi-colour compositions. For a grouped hang, it is best to keep a single type of frame from one piece to the next: it is the consistency of the presentation that holds the set together, not the number of posters gathered.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
