Which Porto poster should you choose?
Portugal comes in several easily recognisable styles:
- Porto Portugal poster, classic view: the Douro, the ochre rooftops, the Dom Luís bridge in the background.
- Ribeira poster: tightly packed coloured façades, washing at the windows, a neighbourhood feel.
- Vintage Porto poster: travel advertising, old-style lettering, a sepia or pastel palette.
- Azulejos poster: blue and white tile patterns, a graphic and repetitive style.
- Minimalist Porto poster: the bridge or tower's silhouette in clean flat colours.
- Porto Portugal map poster: a stylised coastline and river, more decorative than touristic.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by size.
Where should you hang a Porto poster?
- Living room: the view of the Douro or the Dom Luís bridge, in a large size above the sofa.
- Entrance: an azulejos poster or a vintage advertisement, to set the tone from the doorway.
- Kitchen: an azulejos pattern, in the spirit of Portuguese kitchens.
- Office: a minimalist version, understated next to the screen.
- Bedroom: a soft shade of the Douro at sunset, rather than too busy a view.
One Porto poster or a series?
A single view, in a large size, is enough to set up a travel-themed wall decoration without overloading the wall. To tell a fuller story, a series of two or three smaller sizes works better than one large poster: an azulejo, a view of the Ribeira, a detail of the bridge, aligned at the same height. The choice mostly depends on the wall available and on what the room can hold without feeling cluttered.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
