Which woman poster should you choose?

The female figure comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same thing:

• Portrait and face of a woman: a gaze, an expression, a tight frame on the face.
• Artistic nude, nude woman poster and female body: a pose, a light, the line of the body.
• Art deco, Tamara de Lempicka and perfume aesthetics: geometric curves, saturated colours, vintage elegance down to Chanel pink.
• Icons and feminism: Simone Veil, Miss Tic, Frida Kahlo, a vintage feminist poster that carries a conviction.
• Silhouette and abstraction: an outline, a flat area, a simple shape, an abstract woman in black and white or in colour.
• The Virgin Mary and sacred figures: a gentle face, pastel tones, halfway between icon and portrait.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a woman poster?

• Bedroom: a nude or a portrait in powder pink, above the bed.
• Living room: a feminist icon or an art deco piece in a large size, which sets the tone.
• Bathroom: a pared-back silhouette or a black and white, plain and intimate.
• Dressing room or hair corner: a face or a stylised hairstyle, near the mirror.
• Entrance or hallway: a strong portrait, the first look on coming in.

Artistic nude or silhouette?

• The artistic nude shows the skin, the pose, the light on an identifiable body.
• The silhouette erases the detail: an outline, a shadow, a shape that suggests without showing.
• The silhouette hangs anywhere, including in the rooms people pass through.
• The nude asks for a more intimate room: bedroom, bathroom, dressing room.

Tip: keep the nude for closed rooms and save the silhouette or the portrait for the spaces everyone crosses.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

• With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
• Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
