Yellow posters

Yellow as seen by our artists: suns, mimosa, lemons, mustard and pale ochres. A yellow poster lights up a wall without a lamp. Every print is made to order in our Fayence workshop, on 270 g semi-matte anti-glare photo paper.

Choosing your yellow poster

Which yellow poster should you choose?

  • Mustard yellow poster: the most asked-for shade, warm and deep, never shrill.
  • Yellow and blue poster: a frank duo, very maritime or very graphic depending on the motif.
  • Yellow and black poster: sharp contrast, silhouettes and lettering stand out well on it.
  • New York yellow cab poster: urban photography, cabs and avenues, in that precise yellow.
  • Illustration and yellow flat colour: simple shapes, sun, lemons, wheat, without a load of detail.
  • Yellow abstraction: gradations and flat areas, for a wall that already has colour elsewhere.

The filters on the left narrow things down by shade of yellow, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a yellow poster?

  • Kitchen: mustard yellow finds its place there naturally, beside wood and white.
  • Living room: a yellow and blue in a large size, for a wall that needs lifting.
  • Entrance: a vertical size, which welcomes without saying too much.
  • Office: a graphic yellow and black, readable from screen distance.
  • Child's bedroom: soft yellows, never bright ones, above the bed.

Tip: mustard yellow goes better with an off-white or terracotta wall than with a cold grey one, which puts it out.

Yellow, or yellow and blue?

  • A yellow on its own concentrates attention on one point of the wall: it works in a small size, isolated.
  • A yellow and blue carries more movement and takes large sizes such as the 70x100.
  • On a wall that already has colour, prefer a yellow and black: the contrast holds without adding a shade.
  • In the 100x140 polyptych, a two-colour motif reads better than a plain yellow flat, which loses its relief once cut into panels.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
