The kitchen seen by our artists: laid tables, still lifes, citrus, cocktails and vintage prints. A kitchen print takes five minutes to change and copes with steam better than a solid wood panel. Every piece is made to order in our workshop in Fayence, on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.
Choosing your Kitchen poster
Which kitchen poster should you choose?
The kitchen takes in very different registers, and they do not all mix:
- Vintage kitchen poster: old advertisements, period lettering, faded tones.
- Vintage advert poster: labels, vanished brands, publicity for one precise product.
- Modern kitchen poster: simple shapes, clean flat colour, a tight palette.
- Black and white kitchen poster: frank contrast, no colour to distract the eye.
- Food poster: vegetables, fruit, dishes, ingredients isolated on a plain ground.
- Retro kitchen poster: utensils, meal scenes, a drawing from before.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a kitchen poster?
- Eating corner: a series of three food posters, identical size.
- Wall above the worktop: a single piece, never overloaded.
- Dining room: a vintage kitchen poster, in resonance with the table.
- Splashback or open shelf: a small size, at eye level.
- Corridor leading to the kitchen: the poster that announces the room before you enter it.
Tip: in a kitchen the light changes quickly between morning and evening. A modern kitchen poster in neutral tones crosses those variations better than a vivid colour.
An original kitchen poster or a faithful reproduction of an old advert?
- An original kitchen poster starts from a new idea: composition, palette and subject made for today.
- A vintage advert poster takes up the vocabulary of a period advertisement: brand name, lettering, the layout of its time.
- The first suits a present-day kitchen, the second brings an older landmark, almost a collector's piece.
- The 270 g photo paper with its semi-matte finish keeps the same rendering on both, from 21x30 for a detail to 70x100 for a whole wall.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
