Choosing your Bauhaus poster
Which Bauhaus poster should you choose?
- 1923 Bauhaus exhibition poster: the Weimar poster, golden circle and square on a dark background, the most sought-after of its kind.
- Bauhaus typography poster: geometric composition, stacked lettering, flat black and white or bold blue.
- Bauhaus architecture poster: the Dessau building, glazed facade, straight lines and clean volumes.
- Bauhaus colour poster: the colour wheel and primary shapes, the legacy of the school's colour courses.
- Bauhaus stage and dance poster: the stylised silhouette of the Triadic Ballet, a rarer register.
- Vintage Bauhaus-style poster: yellowed paper, period typography from 1919-1933, an archive spirit.

Where should you hang a Bauhaus poster?

Original or reproduction Bauhaus poster?
An original Bauhaus poster, one printed between 1919 and 1933 or drawn from an archive collection, trades as a collector's item and is rarely found in the size or colour you want. The reproduction takes up the same composition, printed today in the size that suits your wall. For an interior that has to stand comparison with the original, a faithful reproduction is more than enough: it is the motif that carries the style, not the print run.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
