Posters London

London as seen by our artists: Parliament on the bank of the Thames and the roofs in backlight. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your London poster

Which London poster should you choose?

  • Vintage London poster: travel advertising, period lettering, a sepia or pastel palette.
  • Black and white London poster: urban silhouette, sharp contrast, graphic line.
  • London map poster: neighbourhoods and streets in fine line, a cartographic register.
  • London Underground poster: the network map, coloured lines in that iconic signage style.
  • London landmarks poster: Tower Bridge, Big Ben, a silhouette recognisable at first glance.
  • London photography poster: a street, a double-decker or a phone box, in a contemporary rendering.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by size.

Where should you hang a London poster?

  • Living room: a large black and white piece, alone above the sofa.
  • Office: an Underground map or a street map, understated near the screen.
  • Hallway: a vintage series, in the same size, to give rhythm to the wall.
  • Bedroom: a landmark in soft tones, never too sharp a contrast.
  • Entrance: a London poster that sets the tone from the doorway, in a travel journal style.

London poster in colour or in black and white?

Black and white carries the vintage, graphic register; it suits most interiors and never dates. Colour works better for a map or a plan, where each Underground line or each neighbourhood gains from being visually distinguished. On a wall that is already busy, black and white calms the composition. On a neutral wall, a touch of London colour, the red of a bus or the blue of the flag, wakes the room up without overloading it.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
