Choosing your Mediterranean Sea poster

Which Mediterranean poster should you choose?

The Mediterranean rim comes in several registers, each with its own mood:

  • Coastal Mediterranean poster: rocky coves, turquoise water, white cliffs.
  • Villages and lanes: cobbled alleys, coloured shutters, flowered terraces.
  • Olive trees and cypresses: dry countryside, raking light, ochre earth.
  • Vintage Mediterranean poster: travel advertisements, seaside resorts, period liners.
  • Markets and scenes of life: stalls, facades, washing at the windows.
  • Sun palette: deep blue, limewashed white, terracotta.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Mediterranean poster?

  • Living room: a large coast or village, above the sofa.
  • Kitchen: a market or olive trees, echoing southern meals.
  • Bedroom: a blue and white palette, settling above the bed.
  • Entrance: a vintage scene, to set the tone from the doorstep.
  • Hallway: a series of three lanes or three coves by the same artist.

Sea view or typical village?

  • The sea view breathes: it asks for a bare wall and a large size so the horizon counts.
  • The village is looked at close up: a lane or a facade keeps its charm even in 30x40.
  • On a wall that is already busy, prefer the village, tighter, to the coast, which needs space.
  • The 100x140 polyptych suits a coastal panorama above all, not a street scene.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
