Posters skiing
Skiing as seen by our artists: turns in powder, skis on the shoulder and alpine peaks. Each poster is a personal reading of winter mountains, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.
Choosing your ski poster
Which ski poster should you choose?
The mountains come in several registers, and they do not tell the same story:
- Vintage ski poster: resort advertising, retro lettering, faded shades.
- Cult ski comedy poster: an image from a film everyone knows, a humorous nod.
- Ski resort poster: place names, gondolas, stylised piste maps.
- Ski mountain poster: snow-covered summits, a clear sky, ridge lines.
- Black and white ski poster: a skier in movement, restrained contrast, photographic grain.
- Minimalist ski poster: silhouette, piste, a single flat colour.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a ski poster?
- Living room: a mountain view in a large size, above the sofa.
- Chalet and living space: a vintage ski resort, for the spirit of the place.
- Bedroom: black and white, more restful than a colourful scene.
- Hallway: a series of three resorts, Courchevel, Val Thorens, La Plagne.
- Office or relaxation corner: the comedy poster, to smile at as you pass.
Tip: a snow scene keeps its white franker on a dark wall, which avoids the washed-out effect.
Vintage ski poster or mountain photograph?
- Vintage owns its colour and its lettering: it dates the wall, in the good sense.
- Photography shows the mountains as they are: more neutral, easier to pair.
- On a wall already full of wooden furniture, vintage holds better.
- The 50x70 suits both; the 30x40 stays for a detail or a piece of lettering.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
