Choosing your vase poster

Which vase poster should you choose?

The vase comes in several registers, from academic classicism to the barest line:

  • Still life with vase: bouquet, fruit and a laid table, in the spirit of classical painting.
  • Ceremonial vase: the silhouette of a vase with the bearing of a trophy, porcelain or bisque, a noble line.
  • Vase and dried flowers: a sober composition, terracotta and sand tones.
  • Ancient Greek vase: black-figure or red-figure ceramic, repeated geometric patterns.
  • Matisse-style vase: bold flat colours, a simplified line, a studio spirit.
  • Minimalist line vase: one outline, a single colour, a pared-back spirit.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a vase poster?

  • Living room: a still life with vase in a large size, above the sideboard.
  • Dining room: a vase and its flowers, at eye level near the table.
  • Bedroom: a minimalist line vase, in soft tones.
  • Entrance: a ceremonial vase, for a classic note from the threshold.
  • Kitchen: a small vase-and-fruit print, in the spirit of still life.

Classic still life or pared-back line vase?

The classic still life carries colour, texture and light: it suits an interior that owns the old-fashioned or bourgeois style. The line vase, reduced to an outline and a tint, suits a contemporary interior and pairs with other graphic posters on the same wall. On a wall that is already busy, we recommend the sobriety of the line; on a neutral wall, the still life brings more presence.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
