Posters photography

Photography seen by our artists: landscapes, architecture, still lifes, portraits and street scenes. A photographic print gives a wall a precision that drawing does not have. Every print is made to order in our workshop in Grasse, on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish.

Choosing your photographic print

Which photographic print to choose?

It is the light that decides, more than the subject:

  • Landscapes: sea, dunes, mountains, fields at dawn.
  • Architecture: façades, staircases, concrete, geometry.
  • Black and white: sharp contrast, grain, backlight.
  • Still lifes: tableware, fruit, textures.
  • Street scenes: terraces, passers-by, signs.
  • Old photography: period prints, sepia, film.

The filters on the left narrow by dominant colour, style and mood.

Where to hang a photograph?

  • Living room: one large format alone, never mixed with a painting.
  • Office: architecture or a landscape behind the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of four, same format and same frame.
  • Bedroom: a calm landscape, in muted tones.
  • Entrance: a contrasted black and white, at eye level.

Tip: a photograph sits badly next to an illustration. Keep the two registers apart.

What result on art paper?

We print on anti-glare satin paper, not on glossy photo paper.

  • Greys and blacks stay deep, with no window reflection.
  • The paper grain shows close up, as on an exhibition print.
  • Eco-solvent inks: the contrasts do not weaken over the years.

Poster, print or wall picture: what is the difference?

Here the three words mean the same thing: an image you hang on the wall. We say print because we print on art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • Framed: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Unframed: the sheet alone, to slide into a frame you already own.
