Choosing your nature print

Which landscape or nature poster should you choose?

The subject covers very different registers, between the landscape poster, the nature poster and the nature landscape poster, and they do not go in the same rooms:

  • Landscape poster: mountains, valleys, plains, a horizon that structures the room.
  • Zen nature poster: pared-back lines, beige and green tones, a mood that settles more than it tells.
  • Old botanical poster: herbaria, foliage and engravings in the manner of cabinets of curiosities.
  • Sea landscape poster: coastline, sea horizon, the light that changes on the water.
  • Still life: fruit, cut flowers, simple objects set in a soft light.
  • Nature trompe-l'oeil: dense forest or foliage in a large size, with the effect of a wallpaper that opens the wall.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a nature wall poster?

  • Living room: a large nature wall poster, forest or mountain, above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a zen nature poster in beige tones, for a wall that rests the eye.
  • Dining room: a still life, which naturally finds its place near the table.
  • Office: an old botanical poster, plain beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a series of three landscapes in black and white, in the same size.

Tip: a deep green absorbs light on a wall that is already dark. Prefer a pale ground for a wooded landscape.

Which size for a nature poster?

  • 21x30 for an old botanical poster or a still life detail.
  • 30x40 for a landscape on its own, above a desk or a console.
  • 50x70 and 70x100 for a large nature wall poster, when the horizon needs space.
  • The 100x140 polyptych for an XXL nature wall poster, a life-size panorama across several panels.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
