Choosing your tree poster

Which tree poster should you choose?

  • Tree of life: branches and roots interlaced, often in black and white or in a circle.
  • Klimt tree of life: gilding, golden motifs, an Art Nouveau inspiration.
  • Cherry blossom and Japanese cherry: flowering branches, spring, a Japanese-leaning minimalism.
  • Birch forest: white trunks in a row, filtered light, a Scandinavian mood.
  • Remarkable tree: an isolated silhouette, often in open country or at sunset.
  • Eucalyptus leaf and foliage: fine botany, green or sepia tones.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a tree poster?

  • Living room: a tree of life in a large size, above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a Japanese cherry or a flowering branch, calming above the bed.
  • Office: a black and white tree, restrained beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a birch forest, which gives height to a narrow hallway.
  • Dining room: a remarkable tree, as a backdrop on a pale wall.

Tip: a symmetrical tree of life centres easily above a piece of furniture; an isolated, asymmetrical tree asks for more space around it.

Colour or black and white?

  • Black and white gives the wall structure without imposing a hue: it agrees with any palette already in place.
  • Colour, golden for a Klimt tree of life or green for foliage, anchors the poster as a piece in its own right.
  • On a wall already loaded with objects or frames, black and white stays the safest choice.
  • On a bare wall, colour gives the focal point the room is missing.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
