Choosing your beach poster

Which beach poster should you choose?

The beach is not a single register, and each one sets a different mood:

  • Paradise beach: white sand, turquoise water, palm trees, frank light.
  • Vintage beach poster: seaside advertising, striped huts, period lettering.
  • Waves and seaside: foam, horizon, deep blue.
  • Black and white beach: film grain, contrast, a pared-back scene.
  • Peopled beach scene: parasols, towels, the silhouettes of bathers.
  • Trompe-l'oeil wall poster: a panorama that extends the room to the horizon.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a beach poster?

  • Living room: a large horizontal size, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a calm paradise beach, never too busy a scene.
  • Bathroom: the room where the subject settles most naturally.
  • Hallway: a series of three beach views, same artist, same size.
  • Entrance: a panoramic that sets the tone from the door.

Tip: beach blues turn grey on a cold wall. A sand or cream wall keeps their intensity.

Which size for an XXL beach poster?

  • 50x70 and 70x100 for a beach that needs horizon and width.
  • The 100x140 polyptych for a seaside panorama in several panels.
  • 30x40 for a tighter detail: a parasol, a hut, a single wave.
  • The panoramic size is chosen above all for scenes with no central subject, where the eye can wander with nothing to stop it.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
