Posters Cévennes
Cévennes as seen by our artists: the schist ridges, the chestnut trees and the stone villages deep in the valleys. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your Cévennes poster
Which Cévennes poster should you choose?
The Cévennes come in several distinct registers, between mineral relief and dense forests:
- Cévennes mountain poster: causses, ridges and gradients of green, in the spirit of a mountain landscape picture.
- Tarn Gorges poster: limestone cliffs, meanders, a sweeping view over the river.
- Cévenol chestnut grove poster: undergrowth, autumn tones, foliage texture.
- Cévennes stone village poster: stone-slab roofs (lauze), narrow lanes, hamlets clinging to the hillside.
- Stevenson Trail poster: hiking path, pack donkeys, sheep transhumance.
- Mont Aigoual poster: summit panorama, high-altitude light, clear sky.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a Cévennes poster?
- Living room: a large horizontal poster of a causse or the gorges, alone above the sofa.
- Bedroom: the greens and greys of an undergrowth, for a soothing wall.
- Office: a plain ridge view, in a small size near the screen.
- Hallway or entrance: a series of stone villages, in the same size.
- Conservatory or dining room: a Mont Aigoual panorama, echoing a bay window onto the outdoors.
Cévennes poster: sweeping panorama or close-up view?
A causse landscape or a view of the gorges unfolds across the width: it calls for a 70x100, or a 101x141 polyptych to fill an entire wall. A hamlet, a pass or a chestnut-grove detail reads very well at 30x40 or 50x70, in a smaller room. The 21x30 suits a series of several views, grouped rather than displayed alone. The choice follows the size of the wall as much as the subject depicted.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
