Hat as seen by our artists: the straw hats, the cast shadows and the midday light. Each poster is a personal reading of the landscape, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Hat poster

Which hat poster should you choose?

The hat comes in a few clearly identified registers, carried by a name or a precise use:

  • Borsalino poster: the Italian felt hat, an elegant and timeless silhouette.
  • Borsalino film poster: an image drawn from the film, noir mood and Marseille.
  • Bowler hat poster: strict line, retro and English spirit.
  • Hat and leather boots poster: western register, leather and felt paired together.
  • Straw hat poster: summer, natural material, warm tones.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a hat poster?

  • Entrance: a black and white Borsalino, to set the tone from the doorway.
  • Office: a bowler hat, understated next to the screen.
  • Living room: a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Dressing room: the straw hat or the western one, near the accessories.
  • Hallway: a series on the same theme, same size.

Hat poster in black and white or in colour?

Black and white serves the film register and the retro spirit of the Borsalino or the bowler hat: it sets a sober mood that outlasts trends. Colour suits the straw hat and the western register better, where leather and warm tones carry the subject. On a wall that is already busy, black and white asserts itself without overloading the room. On a neutral wall, colour gives the whole thing character.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
