Red posters
Red prints seen by our artists: poppies, lacquer, flags, sport and bold flat colour. Red sets the tone of a room on its own, and one wall is enough. Every print is made to order in our workshop in Fayence, on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.
Choosing your red print
Which red poster should you choose?
Red covers very different registers, and they do not tell the same thing:
- Red and black: graphic contrast, bold flat colour, clean shapes, the most direct version of the red and black poster.
- Muted red: a duller shade, between brick and coral, far from a frank red, for a softer red poster.
- Vintage Moulin Rouge poster: Jules Chéret advertisements, a dancer's silhouette such as La Goulue, period lettering and cabaret scenes.
- Red flower: a poppy in close-up, a red rose, detailed petals or a botanical plate.
- Red mouth: a graphic portrait, pop aesthetics, a single shape on a plain ground.
- Red house or castle: facade, brick, roof, a simple architectural illustration.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a red poster?
- Living room: a red and black in a large size, alone above the sofa.
- Bedroom: a muted red, more restful than a bright red on waking.
- Entrance or hallway: a vintage Moulin Rouge poster, to set the tone from arrival.
- Kitchen: a poppy or a red rose, in a small size near a window.
- Child's bedroom: a Red Balloon poster, an isolated silhouette on a pale ground.
Bright red or muted red?
- Bright red catches the eye first: it suits a wall that is already neutral, with no other strong colour nearby.
- Muted red blends in more: it tolerates a pale wood, a linen, a cream wall.
- In a large size, a bright red saturates the room quickly; prefer it in 30x40 or 21x30.
- Muted red carries large sizes better, up to the 100x140 polyptych.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
