Posters sailboat
Sailboat as seen by our artists: the hulls, the crossing sails and the flotillas offshore. Each poster is a personal reading of the landscape, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.
Choosing your sailboat poster
Which sailboat poster should you choose?
Sailboats come in several distinct registers, from the most sporting to the most contemplative:
- Racing sailboat poster: regatta, spinnaker filled with wind, choppy sea, hull heeling under the wind.
- Black and white sailboat poster: sharp contrast, sea and sky reduced to two tones.
- Vintage sailboat poster: traditional rigging, lugsail, period photograph or engraving.
- Pen Duick poster: Éric Tabarly's sailboats, a silhouette recognisable from offshore racing.
- Sailing boats poster: a flotilla at anchor, a Breton harbour, a calmer register than a regatta.
- Minimalist sailboat poster: a clean hull line, a flat block of colour, the sea suggested in a single stroke.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a sailboat poster?
- Office: a racing sailboat, for tension and movement.
- Living room: a large size above the sofa, a vintage or black and white sailboat.
- Bedroom: a sailboat at anchor, a calm register, never a rough sea.
- Hallway: a series of sailboats in the same style, same size.
- Entrance: a Pen Duick poster, to set the tone of a house by the water.
Sailboat poster in colour or in black and white?
- Black and white carries the movement and the structure of the rigging, without the season imposing itself.
- Colour renders the light of a regatta: deep blue, white sails, clear sky.
- On a wall already full of textures, black and white calms the composition.
- On a neutral wall, colour carries more of the energy of offshore racing.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
