Which sea print to choose?

The seaside can be told in several ways, and they do not belong in the same rooms:

• Seaside print: coves, beaches, huts, parasols.
• Waves and foam: movement, close up, deep blue.
• Sailing boats and ships: regattas, harbours, hulls at anchor.
• Dunes and shoreline: marram grass, sand, low sky.
• Vintage seaside print: resort advertisement, spas, ocean liners.
• Bathers and beach scenes: hats, towels, August light.

Where to hang seaside wall decor?

• Living room: one large horizontal format, above the sofa.
• Bedroom: a calm blue above the bed, never a rough wave.
• Bathroom: the room where the subject fits best.
• Hallway: a series of three coves or three sailing boats.
• Entrance: what sets the tone of a holiday house.

Tip: marine blues turn grey on a cold wall. Try them against a cream or sand wall.

What size for a sea poster?

• 50x70 and 70x100 for a horizon, which needs width.
• 30x40 for a detail: shell, rope, beach hut.
• Three 21x30 in a row for a series of beaches.
• The 101x141 polyptych for a panorama in four panels.

Poster, print or wall picture: what is the difference?

Here the three words mean the same thing: an image you hang on the wall. We say print because we print on art paper, not on canvas or metal.

• Framed: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
• Unframed: the sheet alone, to slide into a frame you already own.
