Posters rugby
Rugby seen by our artists: scrums, the oval ball, stands and jerseys, in the graphic language of the golden age of the poster. Each print is a personal reading of the game, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our studio in Fayence.
Choosing your rugby poster
Which rugby poster should you choose?
Rugby covers several clearly distinct registers on a wall, and they do not speak about the same thing:
- Club poster: Stade Toulousain, UBB, Biarritz Olympique, the jersey and the colours that make an identity.
- France team and the France XV: the cockerel, the blue, the great international competitions.
- Vintage rugby poster: old advertising, photography with marked grain, period lettering.
- Player portrait: Antoine Dupont and the faces that embody a club or a national side.
- Match poster: a Top 14 semi-final or final, a World Cup, the decisive moment held still.
- Black and white rugby poster: the gesture and the contrast, without the colour of the jersey.
The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where should you hang a rugby poster?
- Living room: a club in a large size, above the sofa or in the corner where matches are watched.
- Child's or teenager's bedroom: a player portrait or a scene from a rugby school.
- Office: a vintage poster, restrained, which holds the room without dominating it.
- Hallway: a series of three posters, a club, a final, a portrait.
- Cellar, garage or home gym: black and white, the changing-room spirit.
Player portrait or match poster?
- The portrait fixes a face, a pose, a jersey: it stays true long after a season ends.
- The match poster captures one precise gesture, a scrum, a try: it tells a moment, not a career.
- The portrait lends itself to a vertical size, 30x40 or 50x70.
- The match, often wider, finds its place horizontally or as a 100x140 polyptych for a stadium at full scale.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
