Personalized Family Poster

A family poster isn't just an enlarged photo: it's an object you look at every day, often in the room where you spend the most time. The choice that matters isn't the photo, it's the size and the spot.

What size for a family portrait

A group photo needs more space than a landscape shot. With four or five people, the faces on a 21x30 measure less than three centimeters: you can guess who's who, but you can't really recognize them.

• 30x40 cm, from €16.90. The minimum for a family of three or four, seen up close.
• 50x70 cm, from €24.20. The right size once there are five people or more, or if the poster will be viewed from a sofa.
• 70x100 cm, from €35.20. A portrait that fills an entire living room or staircase wall.

The simple rule: the poster should cover between half and two thirds of the width of the furniture below it. A 160 cm sideboard calls for a 50x70, not a 30x40.

Where to hang it, and why it matters

The living room and the staircase are the two spots where a family poster gets ordered most, and they don't call for the same size. On a staircase, you pass within 80 cm of the wall: a large format is never seen in full, so a 30x40 is enough. In a living room, you view it from three meters away, and it needs to be big.

A family portrait doesn't sit well right next to other images: it works better alone on its own wall, or surrounded by posters that are noticeably smaller and more understated.

What you approve before printing

The configurator shows the exact result, including cropping and white margin. What you see on screen is what goes to print, with no intermediate revision.

A resolution check runs before production: a group photo taken ten years ago doesn't always have the definition needed for a 70x100. In that case, the suggested size is adjusted rather than delivering a blurry print.

The paper, and where it's printed

220 g/m² fine art paper with an anti-glare satin finish, M1 certified, eco-solvent inks, printed to order in our workshop near Grasse. The anti-glare finish matters especially for a portrait hung opposite a window: faces stay clear at any time of day.
