Posters Bremen

Bremen as seen by our artists: the carved gables of the square, the city’s golden key and the masts of the harbour. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Bremen poster

Which Bremen poster should you choose?

Bremen comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Bremen town musicians poster: the donkey, the dog, the cat and the cockerel, stacked, illustrated or in silhouette.
  • Bremen market square poster: town hall, Roland statue, worked gables.
  • Line-drawn Bremen poster: the city's golden key, the stepped facades, a pared-back drawing.
  • Bremen map or city plan poster: the Weser, the fan of ramparts, the districts in line.
  • Vintage Bremen poster: Hanseatic advertisements, a harbour feel, retro lettering.
  • Black and white Bremen poster: brick, the lanes of the Schnoor, marked contrasts.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Bremen poster?

  • Child's bedroom: the town musicians, a tale the image tells without text.
  • Living room: a view of the market square, alone above the sofa.
  • Entrance: a map of Bremen, to place the city from the door.
  • Office: a line drawing, calm and legible beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three Hanseatic cities, all the same size.

Tip: Bremen's red brick goes out on a terracotta wall. Keep it for a pale wall, where the red stays an accent and not a ground.

Bremen poster: illustration or city view?

  • The musicians illustration works as a story: it speaks to a child before an adult.
  • The city view addresses someone who knows Bremen and wants to recognise it.
  • In a child's bedroom, the illustration holds alone and takes a small size.
  • In a living space, the city view needs a wider size to deliver its detail.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
