Posters Colmar

Colmar as seen by our artists: the half-timbered houses, the canals of Little Venice and the steeple above the roofs. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Colmar poster

Which Colmar poster should you choose?

Colmar comes in several registers, and they don't tell the same story about the town:

  • Petite Venise poster: canals, half-timbered houses, reflections on the water, the most photographed district in town.
  • Colmar map poster: a stylised plan of the old town, streets and named landmarks.
  • Alsatian half-timbering poster: timber-framed façades, bright colours, an architectural register.
  • Colmar Christmas market poster: lights, wood and garlands, a winter mood.
  • View of the old town: rooftops, the Saint-Martin collegiate church, the town's skyline seen from above.
  • Minimalist Colmar poster: flat colours and clean lines, for a contemporary interior.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by size.

Where should you hang a Colmar poster?

  • Living room: Petite Venise in a large size, above the sofa.
  • Entrance: a map of Colmar, to announce the journey from the doorstep.
  • Bedroom: a view of the old town, in soft tones.
  • Kitchen: Alsatian half-timbering, a touch of local character near the table.
  • Office: a minimalist Colmar poster, understated beside the screen.

Colmar poster in portrait or landscape format?

A half-timbered lane or a façade suits the portrait format, which follows the height of the houses. A canal in Petite Venise or a view of rooftops sits better in landscape, which lets the water or the horizon breathe. On a narrow wall, between two windows or above a console table, portrait format wins out. On a large stretch of wall above a sofa or a bed, landscape fills the space without overwhelming it. The choice follows the wall first, only then the image.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
