Posters marseille

Marseille seen by our artists: Notre-Dame de la Garde on its hill, the Old Port, stone stairways and southern light. Each poster is a personal reading of the Phocaean city, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our studio in Fayence.

Choosing your Marseille poster

Which Marseille poster should you choose?

Marseille comes in several registers, and they do not speak to the same wishes:

  • Vintage Marseille poster: old advertising, retro lettering, faded tones.
  • Vieux-Port: boats, coloured facades, the morning sky.
  • Calanques: white cliffs, turquoise water, stone paths.
  • Marseille soap: stacked cubes, workshops, old advertisements.
  • Black and white Marseille poster: marked contrast, photographic grain, restrained framing.
  • Map and plan of the city: districts, coastline, the landmarks of the historic centre.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Marseille poster?

  • Living room: the Vieux-Port or the calanques, in a large size, alone above the sofa.
  • Kitchen: Marseille soap, which naturally finds its place near the shelves.
  • Entrance: a vintage poster, to set the tone from the door.
  • Office: a black and white view, restrained beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three posters, same artist, same size.

Tip: the blues of the calanques turn grey on a cold wall. Try them on a cream or sand wall.

Marseille poster or print?

  • The word changes with whoever is searching, but the paper stays the same: 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.
  • For a living room, prefer 50x70 or 70x100: the Vieux-Port and the calanques need width.
  • For an entrance or a hallway, 21x30 or 30x40 is enough to make the subject exist.
  • For a whole room given over to the city, the 100x140 polyptych composes a panorama in several panels.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
