Choosing your pastel poster

Which pastel poster should you choose?

Pastel brings together several registers, softer than a bold colour but just as varied:

  • Abstract pastel poster: rounded shapes, flat tints and gradients in light hues.
  • Pastel rainbow poster: layered bands of colour, from powder pink to sky blue.
  • Pastel floral poster: flowers and botanicals in a palette of pink, lilac and sage green.
  • Pastel geometric poster: simple shapes, soft contrast between the hues.
  • Pastel landscape poster: sky and horizon in rosy or lavender tones.
  • Pastel typography poster: a quote or a word set on a pastel-coloured background.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a pastel poster?

  • Bedroom: a pastel palette soothes the room, for an adult as much as for a child.
  • Living room: a large-format geometric or abstract pastel poster, to soften a wall.
  • Office: a discreet pastel, one that doesn't catch the eye while you work.
  • Bathroom: powder pink or sky blue carry through a gentle mood.
  • Entrance: a light touch of colour right from the doorway.

Pastel poster: white wall or coloured wall?

  • On a white wall, a pastel poster brings colour without weighing the room down.
  • On a wall that is already pastel, we recommend a slightly deeper tone so the poster stands out.
  • On a dark wall, pastel sets up a soft contrast, never harsh.
  • For a pastel rainbow poster, a neutral wall lets each hue read distinctly.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
