Choosing your pop art poster
Which pop art poster should you choose?
In pop art posters and prints alike, several registers keep coming back, carried by figures most people recognise at first glance:
- Andy Warhol poster or print: screen printing, saturated flat colours, a repeated portrait (Marilyn Monroe, flowers).
- Roy Lichtenstein poster or print: enlarged comic-book panels, Ben-Day dots, the "Kiss" as a style reference.
- Pop art animal poster: monkey, tiger or parrot in bold colours, a graphic and offbeat register.
- Pop art reinterpretation poster: the Mona Lisa or Frida Kahlo reworked in a pop palette.
- Vintage pop art advertising poster: everyday objects and advertisement typography, an American spirit of the 1960s.
- Pop art superhero poster: Wonder Woman or Mickey in flat colour and clean outlines.

Where should you hang a pop art poster?
- Living room: a large, colourful piece, alone above the sofa to set the tone of the room.
- Kitchen: an everyday-object or vintage-advertising register, echoing the room's function.
- Teen bedroom: a pop portrait or an enlarged comic strip, for a wall with character.
- Office or loft: a Lichtenstein or a pop art animal poster, understated despite the colour.
- Hallway: a series of small formats in the same register, aligned at the same height.
Large-format pop art poster or a series of small formats?
An XXL pop art print works on its own: the saturated colours and clean outlines carry the room without needing to be repeated. A series of small formats, on the other hand, lets you mix several registers, a signed portrait, an animal motif, a comic-strip panel, on the same wall. For a wall already busy with furniture, a single large format avoids overcrowding. For a hallway or a bare wall, a series creates movement.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.
- With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
