Posters herbarium
A herbarium poster invites you to look at plants differently: a leaf's silhouette, a fine stem, a single flower or an arrangement of specimens. This botanical vocabulary brings peaceful wall decor that pairs easily with wood, linen and natural shades, in a bedroom or a living room.
Choosing a herbarium poster or botanical plate
Which herbarium should you choose for your wall?
A herbarium poster may follow the layout of a botanical plate or favour a freer composition. Isolated specimens draw attention to detail; arrangements of leaves create a steady rhythm. The background, often as visible as the plant itself, plays an essential role in the final mood.
- Flower herbarium poster: blossoms and stems arranged like a small botanical collection.
- Leaf herbarium poster: cut-out shapes, veins and variations of green for a structured drawing.
- Vintage herbarium print: a presentation inspired by old botanical plates, with softened tones.
- Minimalist herbarium poster: a few spaced elements that give the background room to breathe.
The filters help refine the colours and style of this botanical decoration.
Which room suits a herbarium?
Bedrooms lend themselves to pale backgrounds and airy compositions. In a study, a more descriptive plate recalls observation notebooks. A living room can accommodate several botanical posters, provided their spacing stays regular and their frames have compatible proportions.
Tip: pair two images with different plants but similar backgrounds. The duo looks coherent without appearing to repeat exactly the same thing.
Printed poster or dried plants?
Here, the herbarium is depicted in a printed image: no real plant is placed beneath the frame. This distinction lets you choose the motif for its drawing, independently of the relief of a handmade herbarium. Check the contrasts if your wall is already colourful. Dark leaves stand out against a pale background, while tonal compositions create a subtler effect.
Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?
All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
