Purple posters

Purple as seen by our artists: lavenders, plums and evening mauves. A rare note that signs a wall. Each poster is hand-printed on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our studio in Fayence.

Choosing your purple poster

Which purple poster should you choose?

Purple covers very different registers, from pastel to deep:

  • Pastel purple poster: lavender, wisteria, soft and diffuse tones.
  • Deep purple: aubergine, plum, sustained mauve, a dark ground.
  • Purple gradients: a sky at dusk, auroras, transitions of colour.
  • Purple floral: lavender, iris, heather, botany in flat colour.
  • Purple animation poster: portraits and scenes drawn from animation, a lilac and plum palette.
  • Purple abstract: shapes, textures, coloured minimalism.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a purple poster?

  • Bedroom: a deep purple or a pastel lavender, above the bed.
  • Living room: a gradient or a purple abstract, in a large size.
  • Office: an animation poster or a discreet floral, at eye level.
  • Hallway: a series of graded purple tones, from the palest to the most sustained.
  • Entrance: a strong shade to set the tone from the threshold.

Tip: deep purple closes in a small, poorly lit space. Keep it for rooms with natural light, or for large walls.

Warm purple or cool purple?

  • Warm purple, leaning towards mauve or aubergine, warms a white or beige wall.
  • Cool purple, close to blue-violet, agrees with a grey or anthracite wall.
  • On a cream wall both hold, and it is the evening light that decides.
  • The 270 g photo paper with its semi-matte finish keeps the shade faithful under artificial light, with no reflection to wash it out.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
