Posters trompe-l’œil
Ambiguous perspectives, invented shadows and objects that change meaning: a trompe-l’œil poster brings a visual game to your wall decor. Choose a graphic illusion or an imaginary window for an entrance hall, a living room or an office, depending on the depth and the surprise you are looking for.
This collection has just opened. We are adding our first posters.
Choosing the right trompe-l’œil poster
Which trompe-l’œil poster should you choose?
Compare the subject, the colours and the graphic register:
- Trompe-l’œil poster: an image that leaves you hesitating between several readings of a shape.
- Optical illusion poster: lines, shadows and contrasts that alter perception.
- Trompe-l’œil window: an imaginary opening and a play of perspective for the wall.
- Mural trompe-l’œil poster: objects and silhouettes whose position seems to defy space.
- Surrealist illustration: an unexpected composition where the real and the impossible talk to each other.
The filters on the left let you narrow the selection by dominant colour, by style and by mood.
Where to hang a trompe-l’œil poster?
- Living room: an image whose colours echo the sofa and the textiles, with enough distance to read the subject.
- Office: a clear composition near the bookcase.
- Entrance: a size suited to the furniture, visible from the door.
- Bedroom: a calm register, with measured contrasts and a discreet frame.
Tip: measure the wall; for a series, keep the same line of frames.
Graphic illusion or perspective in depth?
A graphic illusion reveals itself through outlines and through the relationships between shapes. It stays readable in a small room and invites you to look at the image a second time. A perspective in depth suggests a passage, a niche or an opening, and calls for more distance. Choose the register according to the distance from which the poster will be seen. A restrained composition can stay present day after day without dominating the decor. For a series, combine works that share a palette rather than identical illusions: the eye then keeps a surprise in each image.
Poster, print or painting: what is the difference?
Here the three words mean the same thing: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image also exists on a metal plate, in several sizes.
- With frame: black, white or light oak, mounted and ready to hang.
- Without frame: the sheet alone, to slip into the frame you already have.
