Posters Algeria

Algeria as seen by our artists: the white casbah above the bay and the dunes rising to the south. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 220 gsm art paper with an anti-glare satin finish in our workshop in Grasse.

Choosing your Algeria poster

Which Algeria poster should you choose?

Algeria covers very different registers, from the desert to white alleyways:

  • Vintage Algeria poster: 1930s travel advertising, period lettering, the silhouette of Algiers the White.
  • Casbah of Algiers: stepped alleyways, white facades, a plunging view over the bay.
  • Algerian Sahara: dunes, palm groves, golden light over the desert.
  • Kabylia: villages perched on the mountain, Berber architecture, an ochre and green palette.
  • Moorish architecture: arcades, mosaics, geometric patterns.
  • Algeria map poster: minimalist outline, landmarks, a sober palette.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang an Algeria poster?

  • Living room: a large format of Algiers the White or the Casbah, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: the ochre and sand tones of the Sahara, soothing above the bed.
  • Office: a map of Algeria, understated beside the screen.
  • Entrance: a vintage poster, to set the tone from the threshold.
  • Dining room: a Kabylia scene or Moorish architecture, to complement a pale wall.

Vintage Algeria poster or contemporary photography?

The vintage style captures the travel poster as it once existed, with its lettering and its flat colours. Contemporary photography captures the real light of a place, a dune or a facade. On a wall already busy with patterns, the clean vintage style holds up better. On a neutral wall, contemporary photography carries more of the sense of escape.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on fine art paper, not on canvas or metal.

  • With frame: black, white, oak or walnut, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
