Blue posters

Blue seen by our artists: deep seas, cyanotypes, summer skies and ink nights. A blue print calms a room and opens it up, without chilling it. Every print is made to order in our workshop in Fayence, on 270 g photo paper with a semi-matte finish.

Choosing your blue print

Which blue poster should you choose?

Blue covers very different registers, and each one sets up a world of its own:

  • Blue Matisse poster: cut gouaches, a blue nude, silhouettes and bold flat colour.
  • Klein blue poster: a deep monochrome, dense texture, matter almost in the raw.
  • Sky and clouds poster: horizon, diffuse light, soft gradations.
  • Blue Miró poster: abstract shapes, vivid flat colour, playful composition.
  • Navy and midnight blue: dark grounds, strong contrast with a pale frame.
  • Pastel blue and clear sky: washed-out tones, a calm atmosphere.

Where should you hang a blue poster?

  • Bedroom: a pastel blue or a clouded sky, for a settled mood.
  • Living room: a blue Matisse or a Miró in a large size, above the sofa.
  • Office: a Klein blue in a small size, beside the screen.
  • Bathroom: a deep blue, the room where the colour falls most truly.
  • Entrance: a navy blue, which sets the tone from the threshold.

Tip: a deep blue absorbs light and darkens a small room. Keep it for walls that are already well lit.

Light blue or deep blue poster?

  • Light blue visually enlarges a room and goes with almost any wall.
  • Deep blue, like Klein blue, needs a neutral wall so as not to crush the space.
  • In a small size (21x30 or 30x40), deep blue keeps its intensity even from a distance.
  • In a large size (50x70, 70x100 or the 100x140 polyptych), light blue stays readable without saturating the wall.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
