Posters Florence

Florence as seen by our artists: the terracotta arcades, the linen hung out to dry and the cypresses in the openings. Each poster is a personal reading of travel, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your Florence poster

Which Florence poster should you choose?

Florence comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same city:

  • Florence Duomo poster: Brunelleschi's dome, the campanile, the three-colour marble.
  • Ponte Vecchio poster: the inhabited bridge over the Arno, its shutters and ochres.
  • Renaissance Florence poster: a fresco detail, statuary, the spirit of the Uffizi.
  • Florence map or city plan poster: the Arno, the bridges, the districts traced in line.
  • Tuscany and Florence poster: hills, cypresses, terracotta and olive tones.
  • Black and white Florence poster: facades, lanes, contrasts without colour.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Florence poster?

  • Living room: a view of the dome from the hills, alone above the sofa.
  • Dining room: a terracotta and olive palette, which agrees with the wood of the table.
  • Office: an architectural detail, calm and geometric beside the screen.
  • Hallway: a series of three Tuscan cities, same size and same frame.
  • Bedroom: a settled view of the Arno, never a fresco that is too busy.

Tip: Florentine ochres warm a north-facing room. On a wall that is already terracotta, move to black and white to avoid a tone-on-tone effect.

Florence poster: landmark or Tuscan landscape?

  • The landmark holds the city: dome, campanile, bridge, recognisable at first glance.
  • The landscape widens it: hills, cypresses, the low light of late afternoon.
  • On a living room wall, the landscape gives depth and takes a large size.
  • On a narrow wall, the landmark fills the height without needing width.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
