Choosing your Morocco poster

Which Morocco poster should you choose?

Morocco comes in several registers, and they do not tell the same story:

  • Marrakech poster: squares, souks, ochre ramparts, gardens and riads.
  • Vintage Morocco poster: travel advertising, airlines, period lettering.
  • Essaouira poster: a blue and white medina, ramparts facing the Atlantic.
  • Agadir poster: coastline, bay, the light of the Moroccan south.
  • Patterns and zellige: geometry, ceramics, traditional ornament.
  • Desert and the Moroccan south: dunes, oases, palm groves.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang a Marrakech poster?

  • Living room: a large size on the ochres and the ramparts, alone above the sofa.
  • Bedroom: a riad or a garden, in soft tones.
  • Entrance: a vintage Morocco poster, to set the tone from the doorstep.
  • Kitchen: a zellige pattern, in a small size near a shelf.
  • Office: a view of Essaouira or Agadir, restful facing the screen.

Tip: Moroccan ochres and blues stand out better on a white or beige wall than on one that already carries colour.

Vintage poster or photograph of Morocco?

  • The vintage poster recomposes: frank colour, lettering, period framing; it evokes a journey more than it documents one.
  • Photography keeps the real detail of a place: an alley, a light, one precise market.
  • For a series of several pieces, vintage repeats better from one wall to the next because its style stays coherent.
  • For a single striking piece, a large photograph of Marrakech or Essaouira has more presence.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
