Posters octopus

Octopus as seen by our artists: the eight arms unfurled as a naturalist plate. Each poster is a personal reading of the animal world, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your octopus poster

Which octopus poster should you choose?

  • Graphic illustration octopus poster: bold flat colours, stylised silhouette, contrasted palette.
  • Japanese style octopus poster: ink, waves, traditional print spirit.
  • Scientific plate of an octopus: naturalist engraving, Latin captions, sepia tones.
  • Watercolour octopus poster: fluid tentacles, ink gradients, soft rendering.
  • Octopus in black and white: fine line, sharp contrast, a pared-back graphic register.
  • Abstract octopus poster: geometric shapes, vivid colours, a decorative reading.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by mood.

Where should you hang an octopus poster?

  • Bathroom: the octopus finds its natural place there, between blue and ceramic.
  • Living room: a large graphic format, alone above the sofa or a sideboard.
  • Office: an understated scientific plate, next to a piece of light wood furniture.
  • Bedroom: a watercolour version in soft tones, never too contrasted.
  • Entrance: a black and white Japanese octopus, to set the tone from the threshold.

Japanese octopus poster or scientific plate?

The Japanese style plays on movement, waves and ink: it suits an interior looking for character. The scientific plate relies on precise drawing and captions, in a cabinet-of-curiosities spirit: it suits an office or a library better. The first register makes a statement on a wall, the second tells the story of a collection. A large-format octopus poster carries the first better; a smaller, framed format serves the second better.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
