Posters penguin

Penguin as seen by our artists: the penguins on the ice floe and their flat-colour silhouettes. Each poster is a personal reading of the animal world, hand-printed on 270 gsm photo paper with a semi-matte finish in our workshop in Fayence.

Choosing your penguin poster

Which penguin poster should you choose?

Penguins lend themselves to several registers, from wildlife documentary to graphic line art:

  • Penguin illustration poster: simple flat colours, round silhouette, black and white or glacier blue palette.
  • Emperor penguin poster: upright posture, contrasted plumage, a more scientific register.
  • Penguin on the ice poster: ice horizon, polar sky, Antarctic mood.
  • Penguin photography poster: wildlife framing, naturalistic rendering, black and white or colour.
  • Humorous penguin poster: an offbeat posture or situation, a light tone.
  • Penguin watercolour poster: blended outlines, soft tones, a softer rendering than a photograph.

The filters on the left narrow things down by dominant colour, by style and by size.

Where should you hang a penguin poster?

  • Children's room: a round, colourful illustration, at eye level.
  • Bathroom: glacier blue matches the tiling and the sanitary white.
  • Living room: a vertical size, alone on a pale wall, for an emperor penguin.
  • Office: a sober graphic version, in black and white.
  • Hallway: a series of two or three identical sizes, same palette.

Realistic penguin poster or graphic illustration?

Realistic photography or watercolour suits an interior that commits to a precise animal subject, with its details of plumage and polar light. The graphic illustration, more pared back, fits more easily into a children's room or an already busy wall, where a simple shape is enough to place the subject without overloading the room.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
