Which duck poster to choose?

The duck can be recognized as much by its silhouette as by the way it floats on the water. An illustration of a mallard gives an important place to plumage and shades of green; a duckling drawing favors soft shapes. A pond scene connects the bird to its surroundings, while a naturalistic plate isolates details and proportions against a more neutral background.

Where to place a duck poster?

In a child's bedroom, a soft design accompanies a shelf of books and natural materials. Tip: choose a discreet frame to let the plumage and reflections carry the color; an overly decorative surround distracts the eye from the subject.

A nature scene or a simple silhouette?

A single bird makes for a quick read and easily associates with other animals. A pond scene requires more perspective but tells a landscape. For a set, bring together ducks, herons and other water birds with backgrounds of the same intensity. The connection between the images may come from their habitat rather than from an exactly identical representation.

Poster, print or picture: what is the difference?

All three words mean the same thing here: a printed image that you hang on the wall. We say poster because we print on photo paper, never on canvas. The same image is also available on a metal plate, in several sizes.

  • With frame: black, white or light oak, assembled and ready to hang.
  • Without frame: the sheet alone, to slide into the frame you already have.
